APOLOGIES TO WILLIAM PENN
I teach eight grade History. Always, I remind the students that spelling does count. Despite this, during a unit on colonization, I can not begin to tell you how many settlers were seeking religous freedom in William Penn's colon!

I am becoming increasingly exasperated (and frightened for our childrens' educations) by TEACHERS' lack of correct spelling, grammar and punctuation!!!! I mean, read some of these posts...good grief!

I agree! The good teachers are dropping like flies. Why? They are burdened with "mainstreaming" special needs children along with all the accompanying paperwork and additional meetings, IEPs etc., increasing paperwork and documentation and are expected to be involved in many evening events. Parents are pushy and threaten law suits if told that their average children aren't "gifted" and they put unhealthy and unfair pressure on the children to perform. Many of the kids are medicated. Parents work long hours and leave the teaching of manners, social skills and values to the teachers!
